REV. DR. BERYL I. COWTHRAN

Organizer/Pastor

Pastor Beryl I. Cowthran, a humanitarian at heart, is an extender of empathy and compassion. Through mission efforts, she continues to serve those who have been marginalized, holistically poor, and uninformed. She has traveled to Jamaica and Haiti to help meet others at their point of need. However, Beryl believes America is one of the world’s largest mission fields and focuses her attention locally. Consequently, she focuses

on several local projects and shares with struggling communities her motto for advancement: M.O.R.E. (M- means & miracles, O- open doors & opportunity, R- revelation & revenue, E- experience & exposure).

Beryl, a fourth-generation preacher/pastor, was licensed to preach April 3, 2005 at Saint Abraham Baptist Church (Shreveport, Louisiana) by her beloved father, Pastor Athan Cowthran, Jr. March 2009, she was ordained an elder in the Lord's church. September 2012, Cowthran was installed into her first pastorage where she served until August 2017. Beryl became the Founder/Senior Pastor of Grace Hill Church, Shreveport, Louisiana. An advocate for many, Pastor Beryl has spearheaded numerous programs such as the HOSEA PROJECT to educate and meet the needs of the community. Efforts of this project have been used to help African Americans families work together to consider adoption as an alternative to abortion. Under this project, she is working to implement OPERATION BOTTOMS UP. The operation is designed to work collaboratively with local entities to combat poverty and community forums. Pastor Beryl is continuing to develop 2B Boys and 2B Girls Youth Mentoring and Enrichment Program, a supplementary program for students needing engagement extracurricular activities. The program endeavors to provide students an opportunity to acquire skill sets with small business organizations while establishing financial stability. As a proud member of Delta Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, she eagerly serves her community with a focus on youth.

Pastor Beryl is the daughter of the late Dr. Athan Cowthran, Jr. and Mrs. Betty L. Cowthran and the youngest of three. Her favorite scripture is Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”. Her motto is “If you ask BIG, you must think BIG, and God will do even BIGGER things in your life!”
